Η ταινία έχει γυριστεί υπό μορφή 3D και είναι από τις πιο αναμενόμενες της χρονιάς. Το ρόλο του κακού Δρακουμέλ υποδύεται ο Hank Azaria με ιδιαίτερη επιτυχία, πρωταγωνιστεί επίσης ο Neil Patrick Harris, ενώ θα ακούσουμε και τη φωνή της Katy Perry ως Στρουμφίτα.
